Upon collection from your hotel, you shall be transferred to Gold Reef City which is located in the south of Johannesburg.  Gold Reef City was so named after the richness upon which the city of Johannesburg was built. The tour commences with a fascinating introductory movie which tells the story about the earliest days of ‘Jozi’ and the discovery of gold.  You also have the opportunity to watch a gold pour and descend into an underground mine (no children younger than 6 years). Pan for gold by hand and experience the euphoria of finding a shiny spec among the dirt.  See the miners carry out their traditional tribal and gum boot dancing, learn a bit of their specially devised mine language which is still used today to cover the many and diverse tribes who worked here. Stroll through the theme park reflecting the life of the mining town at the turn of the last century. There is plenty to do for young and old but remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.
